How about we all come up with our predictions for who will finish where, in the coming season. Its easy, all we do is predict our top 3 and bottom 3 for the Premiership, Championship, Lg One, and Lg Two. For example, at the top or bottom of the table... If you predict a team to finish in one of the 3 places, and they finish in one of the other two places, you get 1 pt. But if you correctly predict a team to finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, bottom, 2nd bottom, or 3rd bottom... you get 3 pts. And heres the joker! We're all either Donny, Barnsley, Leeds, or Rotherham fans on here arent we? Well, we predict where our team will finish and the same rules apply. If we get within 1 place above or below, we get 3 pts. If we predict correctly where our own team will finish, we get 5 pts. How about it, on this thread?

Good idea matey. I was thinking about something on those lines.
Added to that what about something like predicting the score from say 5 or 10 random games a week. 1pt if you predict the win, lose, or draw...and 3pts for the exact score. The person who finishes highest on a given week chooses the random games for the following week. Do you think that's a tad too much and people will end up getting bored?
I'm all for your idea though acido.

I like the idea of predicting league positions and also yours script of predicting 10 random games per week.
Do it!

I'm going to wait until I find out how many minus points we're going to start with. Luton are on -10 according to BBC sport. Rotherham's fate hasn't been decided yet. BBC Sport

"We're all either Donny, Barnsley, Leeds, or Rotherham fans on here arent we?" Err, no. Are there any decent prediction competitions out there? IE. like the fantasy league, so it wouldn't be reliant on one person doing a load of work each week. Otherwise, if you're wanting to do something that involves random matches, why not make use of the lottery/pools? I dunno when the numbers/fixtures for the pools are released, but if there's 49 matches, and there's 49 lottery balls...there could be something there, with Saturday's draw choosing the matches for the following Saturday?

As for the results predicting Script, that sounds ok. Did you mean predicting the actual scores of some selected matches, or just the winners of each match (or if it will be a draw)?
Did anybody want us to set up an Oztips predicting league for the Prem season, like we had for the Euro 08 tournament?

Did you mean predicting the actual scores of some selected matches, or just the winners of each match (or if it will be a draw)? If you predict correctly how the match ended, regardless of the score , then you are awarded 1pt. If you predicted how the match ended, with the correct score.... then it's 3pts. gordonbennett had a good idea about the random matches. The six winning numbers of the lottery on a Wednesday, which correspond with the numbered matches on the following Saturdays pools coupon. The coupons are online, so it's easy to see what they are. I need time to pick my teams for the end of season prediction. As for the Oztips predicting league, you need to enlighten us acido.

Exiled and Marko will know what the Oztips Euro 08 league was like, as I invited fans from the Barnsley, Leeds, Doncaster, and England boards.
Its all about predicting which team will win each match. Not the score, just who will win or if it will be a draw. Before the season starts, the person who sets up the league decides what points to offer for correct predictions, and theres the option of giving bonus points to people who do especially well during the week.
I was hoping there would be the option of setting up a league for the coming Premiership season.

We can set one up on here.....but the forum is only a couple of month old and doesn't have that many posters yet.....but it is a neutral board..
Re: the league prediction. I am going for my original choices with one alteration.
Premier League 1. Chelsea 2. Arsenal 3. Man U ------------------ 18. Wigan 19. Fulham 20. Stoke
CCC 1. Birmingham 2. Nottm Forest 3. Sheffield United (play-off winners) --------------- 22. Southampton 23. Blackpool 24. Burnley
League One 1. Leeds 2. Peterbro 3. Brighton (play-off winners) --------------- 22. Hereford 23. Crewe 24. Cheltenham
League Two 1. Bournemouth 2. Exeter 3. Grimsby 4. Bradford City (play-off winners) ------------------ 23. Chester 24. Macclesfield
I did have Rotherham United in there....but I fear the league are going to impose a 15 point deduction. Everything else is in their favour....they have the best ground and training facilities in league 2.

Script, can you give us a team to finish 22nd (3rd bottom) in Lg Two. Im looking for the top 3 and the bottom 3 for each league, thats not counting any play off matches. A few people have made some predictions on the Barnsley board as well so we can put them all together.
And where do you think your own team Donny will finish in their league (Champship)?

Tahh Pinto. I should point out though that these predictions are for the top 3 and bottom 3 after the league games. This doesnt include the play off winners. Can you pick a 3rd bottom team in Lg Two. And who are your team, is it Donny. If so, where will they finish in their League?

Your points after the first weekend are PINTO 8, SCRIPT 4. This gives the Donny fans an average of 6 pts.
Just out of interest, the average points scored on all the boards taking part, after the first weekend, are...
Doncaster 6.00, Barnsley 5.75, Rotherham 5.50, Cov 5.40, Leeds 5.33, Wolverhampton 4.00, Southampton 4.00
