Rumours and the local press say we are trying to sign the WBA striker,if this comes off it would be a sensational signing in my opinion and would make life a hell of alot easier for us this coming season,he bagged 24 goals last season for WBA and was instrumental in their promotion and he's always scored goals, fingers crossed.

Sensational? I'd say. No offence, but I hope Donny jump in and flex some of that cash.

Not so fast my Donny and Leeds friends, according to our Patrick Cryne who owns the club we have the resources to put this together financially its a question of how Kevin see's the club, lets not forget our profiles increased due to the FA Cup run last season, this is now our 3rd year at this level,we have a decent stadium and some of the very best training facilities in the country. Similar points were raised in 2004 from other clubs when we were trying to sign Stephen Mcphail, well we landed him despite us been a very poor league 1 outfit at the time, yes i know Phillips is a much bigger name but we have come on leaps and bounds as a club, its a longshot but you never know.

Stephen Mcphail was a Leeds reject!!! Anyway the likeliest outcome is he wont come to any of us and if WBA have any sense they will give him what he wants.

It would be a wonderful signing if we could get him, but it comes down to a few things. Firstly Animal, do you really reckon we could afford the wages hes used to earning at WBA? And no offense to my own club, but would he really want to join us when he can goto a number of higher profile Champship clubs? Yes Cryne has promised more transfer funds are available and has insisted we must strengthen up front. But where has he made certain promises before... ie, those of the box office variety?

I think you just have to consider these things if you want to succeed. £15k a week could cripple teams....but equally they could also bring its own reward. Philips might recognise that he can no longer handle the big big league....so if he can do the biz at the very next thing...and get paid handsomely for doing so.....I can't see any reason why Philips won't move to the likes of Barnsley, Preston, Cardiff etc. It might upset the harmonious apple cart a tad if Donny go in for him...but still, I wish they would.
