Without trying to sound patronising it must be bloody hard work following the Millers these days and the clubs fans deserve better, felt totaly gutted when we lost the FA cup semi last April but that's nowt compared to what you lot's had to endure over the last few seasons.

They've never known either way what the future held. We had it exceptionally bad at Donny in the late 70s...but at least we knew the score. A slight positive for them is that they'll be playing in a brilliant stadium at Don Valley...and using the training facilities at the Keepmoat....what were described by Bobby Charlton and Alex Ferguson as one of the best outside of the Premiership. At the end of the day though, if I was a Miller, I'd prefer to do the biz in my home town.

We all would, but we have no choice. Ken Booth's sons don't like football, and they just want to ensure that they save as much of Daddy's money for their inheritance; squeezing the life out of RUFC in the process (allegedly).
DV is just a stepping stone while RMBC pull their fingers out and build Rotherham a community stadium. I'm not holding my breath, though, or those funeral songs of mine will be played sooner than I want!
Sometimes, I think, as fans, why are we putting ourselves through this? But i'm sure you'll all understand when I say, I can't describe the feeling when that ball hits the back of the other team's net.

Foo not been funny, but why should Rotherham council build you a stadium at the council tax payer's expense,i know there's community issues and what have you and i can see that point, but a huge proportion of the Rotherham public support the two Sheffield club's,i think sometimes its a little un-fair to expect local councils to dig our clubs out of the holes they have in most case's created themselfs.

The whole town will benefit from a community stadium.
I may be wrong, but I think more people in Rotherham support Rotherham United than they support sheffield teams...wembley is proof of that. RMBC SHOULD support Rotherham United, even if you were right, (which you are not) because of the word "Rotherham."
Also...Rotherham United put "Rotherham" on the map. They get us recognition as a town, therefore RMBC benefit. Away supporters spend money in Rotherham...so Rotherham as a town benefits from the existance of the club.
It's called community spirit, and looking after your own. As a football fan, I thought you would understand that...or maybe it's just Rotherham fans who have such spirit and pride. (That would explain the support they get, even through all the sh1t). If what you say is right, then why build swimming pools when some people don't swim. Why build skater parks when most people don't skate? Why put swings and slides on recreation grounds when not all tax payers have children...where do we draw the line when deciding which tax payers benefit?
Let's not gorget the Rugby club would benefit, people could watch bands play there, and other public events could be held there.
Most Rotherham fans are council tax payers. Me and my spouse have paid taxes all our lives and worked our loblox off. It's time for RMBC to give something back to the people of Rotherham, something we can be proud of...and that's a community stadium. We have enough daffodils on roundabouts.

Foo i understand and appreciate the points you make, for the record BMBC owns Oakwell and the surrounding land, this deal was struck when we were in the brown stuff ourselfs not too long ago. The point i am trying to make is that sometimes we forget that the major responsibility lies with the club's themselfs, there's more mis-management in football than any other industry and they simply would not get away with it in the real world,if Ventura spent money they did not have and were forced into administration would it expect RMBC to bale them out. Not suggesting that mis-management is the case at RUFC but none the less football club's and its fans need to understand that any business needs to stand on its own two feet and just because its a football club and not a call centre should not make its responsibility any less.

Unfortunately for RUFC, we have been taken over by fans who are business men. But running a business isn't the same as running a football club; which they found out to their cost.
Bear with me here: In the late 70's Pursehouses owned the club, they left it in £250,000 credit.
Then Anthon Johnson bought it, and spent more money than they had got (allegedly)
Then Ken Booth bought the club...this was a successful time, but Booth decided (allegedly) that he wasn't going to put any more money in, and so started our decline, again.
Booth sold the club to Millers 05, one of them was a lawyer...but they only bought the "good will" of the club. They didn't buy the land...so Booth still had a tight grip. Any development of the ground was soon halted when money ran out again. (allegedly)
Deano Maccio and Denis Coleman took over...but with the rent that Booth was charging, the club soon found itself suffocating (allegedly).
Tony Stewart has now taken over...not happy with the Booth family wanting to stifle the club any further (allegedy) he tells the Booths to stick it where the sun doesn't shine, and we move to Don Valley.
RMBC has had decades to get invloved and help Rotherham to be a town to be proud of, but they haven't. I think it's time that they did. It's not just about football...it's about RMBC doing the right thing for the people of Rotherham.
