I like ghost films, not the gory ones. For me it's Sixth Sense with Bruce Willis, I liked the bit where the little boy runs to the bathroom in the dark, and he's scared. I think we've all done that as kids, only in this film, a ghost goes past him. lol I always sit with a cushion in front of my face, even tho I know what's going to happen. lol

How about 'It' ...the one with clown.
I like Dog Soldiers.... but I'm not a big Horror Film fan.

'It' scares the S**t out of me! lol I hate clowns, and I don't know 1 kid that likes em! "The Grudge" is a scary ghost film, but I don't think they really knew what to do with the ending. Scared the pants off me tho!

I liked Hellraiser at the time but the daddy of all off them was The Omen (original).....
....when I saw that as a kid, I had nightmares for months after.
Question has to be asked - WHY was I allowed to watch it as a kid

Depending on what we're calling horror films here really.
The Hanibal series are some of my favourite films, would they be classed as horrors?
Also Hostel is a great film, with plenty of gory bits.
The modern day Texas chainsaw massacres are alright too!

Omen was one of those films that came along and took the genre by storm...... but before that you had the likes of Carrie and Exorcist.....both would challenge Omen as top dog in my opinion. Then of course we had Poltergeist after Omen....I was in my early 20s when I saw Poltergeist....and I was still freaked out by the voice in the television. I've not seen Hellraiser.
Changing direction a tad towards what they call zomcoms.... 'Shaun of the Dead'... classic.

I disagree with you about The Exorcist there Script - thought it was completely over-rated but perhaps if I had been old enough to see it in the cinema upon release then my thoughts could be different....
....Carrie - absolute classic. Starts off slowly but you can almost feel the anger build up in her and you are willing her to do something nasty to the others. The dream sequence at the end will live with me (and my bowels) forever.
.....Shaun Of The Dead - good but not a classic in my eyes.
....oh and Hellraiser mate, watch it but remember the film is 20 years old now. The effects in it were fantastic for the time and if you get a chance read Clive Barkers Books Of Blood. He wrote short horror stories and this one was one of them - he also directed the film.

What about "Christine" the posessed car...that was a good film. I liked it better than Carrie.
If you like good horror, try reading it. Stephen King is class. James Herbert is very good too.
Very good ghost film is "The Changeling" it's old, but really creepy.

I'm not exactly a massive horror film fan....but I do watch them. I like 'Shaun of the Dead' because it's basically a comedy. I enjoyed the 'Alien vs Predator' film..... but. I had to read up on the previous films because I had only seen the first 'Alien' film before. Having read the synopsis on IMDB about Hellraiser, it seems to ring a bell....so I might have watched it. foo Stephen King knows what buttons to press doesn't he? My daughter is like you....she finds 'It' terrifying.
