The Doncaster Rovers team of 1968/69 that won the Fourth Division title. I was nine-years-old at the time and old enough to feel the emotional high of your teams' success. The team was was managed by Laurie McMenamy and included players like Alick Jeffrey, John Regan, Colin Clish, Brian Usher......and I think Alan Warboys might have even played.

The Doncaster Rovers teams of.. 1896/97, 1901/02, and 1902/03 respectively. My wife's great-grandfather featured in these teams. He played in goal..... but had a habit of thinking he was a striker and could often be found leaving the goal unattended.

The man himself... Ian 'Windy' Miller...... or at least I hope it is, otherwise I stand to look like a right plonker.

Ah yes Ian Miller, that brought back some painful schoolboy memories, everytime we visited Belle Vue Ian Miller seemed to cross the ball for either Brendan O'Challaghan or Peter Kitchen to score the winner, and it does not stop there he tore us to shreds in his Blackburn days too crossing the ball for Simon Garner or whoever to score against us,the final insult came in the mid 90's when i went to watch our reserves play Blackburn and guess who scored the winner !!!!......despite the fact he must have been 45 years old at the time and on the coaching staff.

You know something animallittle... I have all these wonderful memories of Doncaster Rovers.. I can see it now....Ian Miller full of pace and sublime skill on the right wing.... crossing the ball to be met by Brendan O'Callaghan...with the wily fox-in-the-box Peter Kitchen picking up the loose ball and putting it in the back of the net. Great times...awesome team....... but were they? The highest they ever got with Donny was 8th in Division 4. So realistically they can't have been that good. I think it's clouded in sentiment

I've just found some (what I thought are very good photos) from a couple of years ago.... but what seems a life time away. I hope I'm not in breach of copyright if I reproduce the photos on here.... but I will acknowledge where they are from. I have e-mailed the site..and obviously if they are unhappy about me using their photos then I shall have to remove them. I urge the Donny fans on her to visit the site however, because there's a wonderful account of a guy's visit to Doncaster.
