I enjoyed reading the comments about the old game PONG (in another thread on this site). And it got me thinking of all the hours Ive spent on my various video game consoles over the years. Its hard to believe isnt it that Pong, Tank battle, Breakout, and then Space Invaders were the first types of game we could play in our living rooms, on our tellies. It meant the world to me on christmas day 1977, when I beat my elder brothers at both Pong and Breakout on the old paddle type console I spent so many 10p's on Galaxians and Pac Man in the amusements during the 80s, and even though I still like playing these games now, they do look terribly outdated compared to my current favourites. Games like of Medal of honour, Resident evil, House of the dead 2+3, and Gran Turismo, are a whole new subject altogether. What consoles do you all own these days, and used to own? And what were your all time favourite games, and current favourites? I know the football manager type games are popular, but Ive always found these to be terribly boring.

Must admit I've never been one for console games.
Having said that going back to the early 80's when we had our Commadore Vic20 I used to love playing Space Invaders, Pac-man and Scramble on it.
We also had a BBC Grandstand game which you plugged into your tele and you could play Tennis and a shooting game on (gun supplied)....
....great days

Nice reply there Wortley (are you sure your not a Barnsley fan)? Ive never had a Sega mega drive to be honest. As for the PS1/2, my faves on that are the Resident evil's, Medal of honour's, Gran turismo's, Tomb raider's, WWF Smackdown's, and Gran turismo's. I also havent bothered yet with a PS3 or XBox 360.

I reached my console zenith at the Sega Master system. I only had a couple of games for it though... xenophobe and golf These modern games are way beyond me. My lads have Play Stations, Wii, gameboys etc... but I never play them. If you have to use more than two buttons, I get confused.
I loved the Atari games console. I did buy a console a couple of years ago which you simply plug into the TV.... it has the old retro games on it, Phoenix, Missile Command. I wasn't as posh as exiledwhite.... I had to make do with the common or garden Sinclair Spectrum 48k. The one which you had to load from a cassette player....and you got a load of lines whilst loading.... 10 minutes later it failed to load....so you had to either turn the volume on your cassette player up or down. I had Daley Thompson's Decathlon on the spectrum. You had to press a couple of the keys quickly for the 100m.

But I seem to recall my kid brother getting a game called 'Tin Can Alley' once for Christmas. It must have been around the mid 70s.... I'm gonna start a new thread so not to hijack acido's.

Those Speccy, Commodore, and Amstrad home game computers were improvements on what we'd been used to. But they were also really annoying when the cassette failed to load because of another 'read error a' (or b). And as for the Daley Thompson's decathlon, how many of us broke the joystick for waggling it too hard?

It was a very upsetting time for us all Script, the joystick had to be thrown away and we had to save up for a new one As for any pervy comments about waggling something too hard and breaking it, I will leave that to somebody else

I've been looking on e-bay, I'm thinking about buy a zx spectrum..... but I'll have to buy a cassette player too. If I remember rightly though, didn't some spectrums come with cassette players attached?

Are they really still selling those on e-bay?
I never knew Speccy did one with the cassette players attatched, but the Amstrad 64 did. I got one of those because of the cassette thingy, not needing a separate player was a bonus. But somehow, the games always did seemed better on the Commodore.

Aww yes, I love going back to these sort of things.
