When I was a young'un there used to be this magical feel about Christmas. I could never wait for us to buy the 'TV Times' bumper edition.... or read my sister's 'Look In' Christmas edition..... or my 'Shoot' Christmas special. I looked forward to seeing the toy adverts come on the TV, or early December when they started to show what films and programs were to be on television. My kid brother and I used to call Christmas 'Chrissy'.... and at night he'd say to me... 'shall we talk about Chrissy'. Every Christmas Eve, around 6pm my mum and dad used to take us for a walk into the town centre to look at the lights. My sister, brother and I would search the skies for Father Christmas.... I was about 18-years-old at the time It really was a very special time of the year for our family. I often searched the house for Christmas presents prior to Christmas...and often found them. I recall one Christmas when I couldn't decide what I wanted between a train set or a table bar football game. I got up about 5am... went downstairs to see this train set all set up. I played with it for about three hours, when I was told to pack it away. I was distraught..... but I did as i was told, and upon removing this piece of hardboard, which the train set was on...I uncovered a table bar football game...

I was always a Shoot man roverdude. I seem to recall a football annual called Topical Times?
I can remember getting a small cine projector for Christmas what was advertised in shoot, and you could also buy football matches on reels of film. The quality was black and white, silent, and absolutely rubbish, but I'd spend hours watching them. I think I only had about three.
