Did any of you oldies used to go the Saturday morning cinema shows at an ABC Cinema in the 60s or 70s? You used to be able to buy badges with a letter on it, and a full set spelt out the words ABC Cinema, and when you got the full set, you were awarded a name badge. Once inside, you had to sing the ABC song... 'We are the boys and girls we're known as, minors of the ABC.....' or the other song 'Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday too, what do we look forward too. Two more days and off we go, to the Saturday morning cinema show......' And then we were treated to a naff film... I still went every week though.

The model shop.... what did you call it again? Did it move to Silver Street and into a much smaller shop? The name DC Evans.. seems to ring a bell. Was that second hand shop called something like Oobedoo?
The ABC building should be made into something. It's huge inside and it's a total waste leaving it empty.

The model shop was Cutrisses.. I've just informed by my own personal historian (the wife). She seems to think the second hand shop was called either Degenhams, or it might have been Debenhams. What ever it was called, it used to sell returns and rejects from shops like Debenhams.

Castle when Harry Stocks used to have it? Great times. I knew Dave Riches who had the Blue Bell fairly well. He passed away at a relatively young age.. How did it used to go roverdude.. Beethems, Castle, Black Bull, Queens, Woolpack, Mag, and Masons. The old spit and sawdust type pubs. I miss all that

They used to like the old sing-songs at the Black Bull. I've never spoken to Charlie Williams, but I've been in the same pub as him a couple of times. Both times he had a big group around him whilst cracking jokes. He really was a naturally funny man.
