I'm going to make a rash statement and say that the Bee Gees are the greatest singer/songwriters the world has ever seen. I think they are fantastic. I've just been listening to a CD and every song on the CD comes from the heart. I'm not dismissing the likes of Lennon, McCartney, Jagger, Chapin etc,....but after considered thought I put the Bee Gees above them. I also think Robin Gibb has a great sounding voice.

They arent really my era of music, but I really did like 'You win again', their number 1 in 1987.
Give them their credit though, they have been around a long time because they appeal to enough people to keep being successful. I cant knock that. The only criticism I have of the two eldest Gibb brothers, is how they reacted and walked off the Clive Anderson BBC tv talk show some years ago.
Speaking of the elder singers I like, I can still listen to Elton John's music nowadays. Despite constant allegations about his private life, he still does things that I like listening to.
ps - Im a pop music fan and my fave band of all time are ERASURE.

To be fair though Clive Anderson went a tad over-the-top with them. I'm not a big fan of Bee Gees' mid to late 70s disco stuff... but I love the late 60s and early 70s material they produced.
Elton John is just a lover of music and performing, and it shows. They used to say about Freddie Mercury that he only came to life when on on stage, Elton John is less reserved in his private and public life, but when it comes to the stage he just seems so comfortable.
