Has anyone any thoughts on the Civic and Cultural Quarter? I'm getting excited about it. I've tried to keep up to date with it...and it really does look something special.....but then at £300 million you would expect it to be. Mind you it is mostly being funded by the private sector.....so hopefully we won't see a huge increase on our council-tax .... but you never know. It's certainly about time Donny had a decent theatre and town square.

There's a bit of excitement about the superstore that is in the plans. I was told yesterday that it might be John Lewis... I've also heard it could be Ikea who had planned to open a store somewhere on Lakeside. Looking at the diagram, it seems Beechfield School is going to be knocked down I went to school there.

I think the Belle Vue ground is going to be part of the Quality Bus Corridor. The car park is going to be planted with trees and a few apartments.
As far as I'm aware the money is in place for the Civic and Cultural Quarter. Saying that the hotel what was going to be built on the Racecourse has been put on hold until the economy gets better.

For any interested Doncastrian, the planning application has gone in and a rubber stamp should be a formality. The developers are looking to start demolishing the buildings in the next few month. I think the college is going to be the first to go. I can't wait for the old coal house to go.... what an eye sore that is. I wonder how that will be demolished though.

in its day it was fit for purpose - went in other day it looks run down, probably best to put it out of misery. knocking it down will close town centre
