It's on Film 4 now. The pupils are meant to be 16-year-old but they look in their 30s, especially the Eric Duffy chap. Saying that, it still makes great TV.

This was shown not too long ago and I actually found myself giggling at it then. Was it really done back in about 1971? That was a superb year

I bought the complete set of Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads... and comedies like that and Porridge, Steptoe and Son, Some Mothers do Ave'em, Bless this House, Fawlty Towers, Please Sir etc, are way above and beyond anything we make nowadays. In my opinion anyway.

Of those you mentioned, I also still like... Porridge, Some mothers, Fawlty, and the later series of Steptoe.
And speaking of the Please Sir film, there were a lot of film spin offs from certain sit coms and most of them turned out to be awful.
The best two are the Steptoe films. The one where they buy a greyhound, and it turns out to need contact lenses because its short sighted. And then they try to fake his dads death and claim on the insurance. the funeral scene is still funny to this day.
